Olympics Song: We are Ready

Major sport events such as FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games normally have official theme song as part of commercial aspect. There are several memorable songs which contain wonderful melody and inspiring lyrics from previous games that are still remembered :
- “Reach Out” (Los Angeles 1984)
- “One Moment in Time” and “Hand in Hand” (Seoul 1988)
- “Amigos Para Siempre” a.k.a. “Friends for Life (Barcelona 1992)
- “The Power of the Dream” and “Reach” (Atlanta 1996)
- “The Flame” (Sydney 2000)
“We Are ready” is one of the 2008 Beijing Olympics songs that will be remembered! Although it is sung in Mandarin, we can show the video to our students and work with the translation of the lyrics to get them into the spirit of Olympic sports! ( :

“We Are ready” was not actually the 2008 Beijing Olympics theme song.
“You and Me” was the theme song.
“We are ready” was the song they used BEFORE the Beijing Olympics to encourage the people to prepare for the Olympics.

The theme song for the Beijing Olympiad is very inspiring and thought provoking. Congratulations to all who put in hard work, effort and thought into this beautiful song. It will be remembered for all ages and many generations to come. Myself, being a school teacher, I will surely create an awareness among the students that I teach. I just love the song and will always do so. Thank you for this joy given to me.
