Toy Story 3 comes now and students will love to practice their English while learning a little more about the movie.

Activity 1:

Worksheet with the lyrics of the song. Students listen to You’ve got a friend in me.

“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” is a song written and performed by Randy Newman (with Lyle Lovett during the credits) for the 1995 animated film Toy Story. It received nominations for best original song — both the 1995 Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination and the 1996 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song nomination — although it lost to another Disney song, “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas. Students listen up and answer the question:

How many times does the word friend appear? Students underline the words and count.

Answer:

Toy Story Soundtrack

You’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
When the road looks
rough ahead
And you’re miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me

Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe

But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It’s me and you, boy
And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You’re gonna see
It’s our destiny

You’ve got a friend in me
that You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
