Teaching opposites: Sesame Street

When teaching opposite adjectives, use these videos with children or teenagers by Sesame Street characters.

Long and Short

Light and Heavy

Near and Far

It can be time consuming to play all of them in a row. So I suggest you play one video at a different day always making post activites like pointing to objects around the class and asking questions.

Ask students: It this long or short? /Is an elephant light or heavy?

If the group is good, you can explore comparatives as well.

You can also tell students to go up and down using their bodies and their hands…..

And when talking about near and far, they can go around the class and say if they are near the teacher or far from the teacher, or they can talk about cities in their country whether they are near or far.

They will love it and they will learn a lot.
