An Australian aid worker has been killed in a suspected Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

She's been identified as Zomi Frankham and had been among a group of seven members of the World Central Kitchen, helping to deliver supplies to northern Gaza when their car was hit.

Here, the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, has called it unacceptable and says he's been in contact with the Israeli government.

In other developments across the Middle East, Iran says a senior commander of the Quds Force has been killed in a strike in Syria's capital, Damascus.

Tehran is pointing the finger at Israel.

The Israeli military says it doesn't comment on foreign media reports.

In Gaza, the IDF says it's left al Shifa Hospital and that the raid was one of the most successful operations of the current conflict.

We'll have more on those stories shortly, but our coverage begins tonight with the death of Zomi Franken, her family describing her as brave and beloved.

But from the Israeli Defence Forces, the IDF is conducting a thorough review at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.

The IDF makes extensive efforts to enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and has been working closely with WCK

in their vital efforts to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Aid workers have paid a high price in this war zone.

The UN's relief agency UNRWA says more than one hundred and seventy staff members in Gaza have been killed since October the seventh.

In mid March, an UNRWA worker was among five people killed in an Israeli airstrike on a UN food distribution center.

It's hard to underestimate the importance of Zahedi in Iran's operations in Lebanon and Syria.

He was the point man with Iran's proxy Hezbollah, controlling financing

and crucially the shipment of weapons into Syria and Lebanon.

Killing Zahedi represents the most significant strike against the IRGC since the Americans killed Qasem Soleimani in Iraq in twenty twenty.

It's also the single biggest escalation since the Hamas attacks last October between Israel and Iran's network of allies in Israel's north, Lebanon's south and the Palestinian territories.

Chanting death to Israel, angry protesters in Tehran burned American and Israeli flags

At the same time, the UN criticising Israel's new law allowing foreign broadcasters to be banned on national security grounds.

The Israeli Prime Minister vowing to immediately block the Qatari state owned broadcaster, writing, Al Jazeera harmed Israel's security, actively participated in the October seven massacre and incited against IDF soldiers.

Florida's Supreme Court has ruled in favour of banning abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, making it one of the strictest abortion laws in the US.

But the court also announced voters in the state could have the final say.

It's allowed an abortion rights amendment to appear on the US election ballot in November.

Florida's highest court was asked to uphold an existing fifteen week ban on abortions, now also allowing a new law reducing that limit to just six weeks.
