Now let's start with a chat about their stock, which is down 30% in the last year.

The market's starting to think, is Disney stock poised to turn the corner anytime soon?

Because really, they're talking about selling everything off.

Here's an article from last night.

Disney is in talks to sell off ABC Network and its local TV stations to broadcaster NextStar, which owns NewsNation.

Disney has had exploratory talks about selling ABC Network and regional TV stations to NextStar Media Group, the local operation station operator that owns NewsNation, according to multiple sources.

Discussions come after Disney CEO Bob Iger said in July that the company could sell off some of its traditional TV assets, which have struggled for years due to the rise of streaming services.

Two sources confirmed the talks to Reuters, with one saying that NextStar's interest is preliminary and may not actually lead to any kind of a deal.

Disney's ABC comprises a national television network and eight regional stations.

It also has affiliate agreements with 240 local TV stations, reaching almost all United States televisions.

NextStar has 200 owned or partnered stations in 116 markets, and over two-thirds of the U.S. population, as well as TV networks like The CW, NewsNation.

It has a market value of $5.25 billion.

This is on the heels of yet another rumor of Disney selling outright to Apple because they just need to get out from underneath and then lease back their licensing, like give everything up to Apple, for example,

Then lease back the IPs on various characters or things of that nature so the park could still function.

And part of the, you know, another interesting twist is apparently Disney Plus is absolutely terrible at actually putting out good programming.

I know, I know, you're probably shocked to hear that.

With great banger shows like She-Hulk and, uh, oh, what's-his-name, really the only thing that Disney Plus has going for it in terms of original programming is whenever a brand new show launches, there's always a lot of hype around it because people are normal humans,

Normal humans get sucked into hype.

I do too.

Does anybody even talk about The Mandalorian anymore?

Does anybody even talk about any of these shows that are in their second seasons?

Nobody's watching Miss Marvel.

Nobody, I mean, Loki is probably the only one that I ever see any buzz around.

Certainly She-Hulk from a, from a, uh, a dunking perspective, but it turns out that, uh, the, uh, the, the Disney Plus is terrible at new programming.

One of the biggest complaints about the world of streaming is that so many shows are canceled often after just a single season in the past year or two.

Netflix is one of the worst.

They had the new series from the people that did, um, Dark, which was on a ship.

They canceled that after one season.

Archive 88 or Archive 81 or whatever it was, they canceled it.

They cancel a lot of criminal mind hunters, I think, or something like that.

Anyway, uh, there are many shows canceled often in a single season.

Disney has been ruthless in how many shows it has canceled as across its linear networks and streaming services.

There have been hundreds of cancellations.

Well, cancellations aren't anything new since they're happening ever since television was created.

But in the past few years, we've seen cancellations become more and more common.

Well, ultimately the reason a show gets canceled is either the star of the show has a political opinion, uh, that is non-mainstream, uh, a lot, Tim Allen being mildly conservative, or you have a show that's not making money.

We're not making enough money.

They're not just canceling successful shows.

So if a show gets canceled, it's either politically motivated, which has happened not nearly as often, but it has like with Tim Allen, or the show sucks and nobody's watching it.

When you are tripling, quadrupling the industry standard at failure, you've got systemic issues.

The biggest reason for this is due to the dramatic shift in how stripping the stream, streaming services went from, uh, trying to get as many subs as possible by using original programming to pull people in to suddenly being forced to focus on profitability when the streaming bubble burst and wall street started demanding results.

Disney and Warner brothers discovery had been hitting their cancellation buttons much more than any other platform, mainly due to them having to sort out the financial mess of the mergers Disney with 20th century Fox and Warner with discovery.

Both studios went on a purge, wiping a billions of dollars worth of original programming, but not just as canceling shows, but by completely removing them as an impairment charge as an asset they viewed as no longer valuable.

Back in May, Disney removed and canceled many original shows, including big shot willow, the mighty ducks game changers, the mysterious Benedict story.

In addition to dozens, in addition to dozens more, more cancellations have been continued through the summer, including most recently doogie.

Camel, Lala, Camel, Lola, MD. What doogie Camel, Lola, MD. Did they try to reboot and race swap doogie Hauser?

Is that what that is?

I just can't figure out why these shows keep getting canceled.

I don't understand it.

Are all these people racist?

According to new data released by variety, Disney comes out as the worst suit, one of the worst studios for cancellations, beating out Netflix and even HBO max.

The data coverage shows scripted and unscripted over the last couple of years.

So if we look at streaming overall has a cancellation rate of 12.2% linear TV, about 10.8 broadcast TV at 26.6%.

That's extremely high max HBO max at 26.9% and Disney plus 21.1%.

I mean, you have net Hulu at 15%, which is actually pretty high to this is if you view these numbers, view them as failure rates.

Essentially, when you consider that many broadcasts and linear cancellations come from the same traditional studios like Warner Brothers, Paramount and Disney, the actual cancellation numbers for these studios are going to be much worse.

Plus, if you combine Hulu and Disney plus together, since they're the same company, which is how Disney plus operates outside the United States, it has a combined platform has a 36.3% failure rate, nearly 40% of shows canceled on Disney and Hulu plus nearly 40% of shows fail.

Generally, the data has shown that most cancellations of shows happen after the first season, since this is when series are considered a hit or flop.

If a show hasn't pulled in enough viewers, studios will generally look to cut their losses and move on to the next project, rather than continue to invest in something that isn't clicking with audiences.

With social media, more people are now aware of cancellations than any time before.

But also with Disney and Warner Brothers axing huge numbers of failed originals to balance the books, the number of cancellations is much higher this year.

Following the return of CEO Bob Iger, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

So nearly 40% of all shows that Disney puts out get canceled 40%.

It's almost like they don't know what people want.

It's almost like people signed up for them.

Here's why everyone signed up for a lot of these new streaming services is because you used to get it all on Netflix, mostly, or Hulu.

And at first you needed only Netflix, you got almost everything.

Then it was like, oh, Hulu for the TV shows, cool, Netflix and Hulu.

But then Disney Plus took like the Simpsons off, other tech, you know, they took the Peacock, took their, NBC took their shows off, they wanted Friends off there, and then you had to take Seinfeld or whatever.

All the shows that people watch move to these original streaming services, forcing people to sign up for them.

But what happens is they only rewatch old episodes of Friends every once in a while, or Seinfeld every once in a while.

So they end up canceling.

So the only way they can keep people there is with new programming, which they are completely incapable of doing.

I for one am not shocked whatsoever if you've taken a look inside of any of these weirdo writers rooms, and it couldn't be happening to a better company.
