Wow.

Now this was an episode.

It was slightly longer than usual, but it was definitely justified as so much happened.

With an epic attack, Fragility looking present within the Empire and amongst the brothers, and Telum's true colours coming to the forefront, this episode was left in a way which showed that no corner of the galaxy was without trouble,

And devastation was definitely set to arise.

So with that, let's recap, break down, and explain all that there was to take away from this episode.

So let's get into it.

Here is Foundation Season 2 Episode 8, Ending Explained.

Just to let you know, this video will contain spoilers.

Gal's Trouble on Ignis.

I'm going to start with this and then touch on it at the end of this section where it's more relevant, but I can't hold it in.

I think Telum is the mule, and she's going to transfer her consciousness over into Josiah.

But before we get to the explanation, let's start with the beginning of Gal's Troubles.

So Harry was wiped out two weeks ago.

Salvar was rendered unconscious in the end of the previous episode.

And now, during the final part of this episode, we saw that Gal was on the verge of losing control of her body and her consciousness being rendered to a point where it would no longer exist.

Telum had Gal kept prisoner inside of this tomb which had dishes up top that prevented her from utilising her abilities.

From there, we saw the strength of Telum's powers where she made Gal believe that she wasn't even trapped inside of there.

With Gal knowing that Seldom was dead, but not saying anything about it, and also keeping it buried deep enough inside of her head that Telum couldn't tell that she knew, it showed the strength that Gal had within her,

And why Telum was so interested in her.

We saw nothing more from Gal until the final part of the episode where she was lying down on the table and we had some major revelations.

We saw that Telum revealed that she'd just completed her second carnation, and that she was planning on using Gal as her third.

We knew that Telum was getting old, but what we didn't know was that she didn't plan on dying.

She planned on transferring her consciousness over into Gal's body, so that she could then live within Gal's shell for another 60 years, thus allowing her to continue to be worshipped and rule the dictatorship on Ignis.

Telum even revealed that she was the reason as to why Gal left Sinax all of those years ago due to planting it within her as she always planned on using Gal.

The last we saw of Gal was when it looked like it was going to be completed.

However, with Salvor looking like she managed to break free from the tomb and hole in the ground, I imagine she's going to cause some kind of disruption.

I'd like to think that when Gal gets her powers back, if Salvor manages to break her free, that she'll find a way to destroy Telum.

However, part of me does think that this could mean that the Mule could be Telum.

We know that she's against the idea of a second foundation due to everything that she originally said about it.

She's familiar with the mentalics, and if they turn on her and decide to side with Gal, it could tie into the line that the Mule said in Gal's vision, when he said, where are your mentalics?

Plus, it could also make her want to seek vengeance against them.

Josiah said a really important line, we don't kill sighted, but if they all side with Gal and Salvor, then Telum will most likely no longer stand by that.

Especially if she is the Mule.

I feel like she'll most likely transfer her consciousness into Josiah's body and he'll then go on to become the Mule, as many of us were originally thinking, but it will actually be Telum inside of the shell.

Something which I don't think any of us would have predicted before this week's episode.

Salvor met Harry Selden One thing that was revealed to us in this episode was that the timeline that we were unfolding on Ignis was operating at a different timeline to the one that we saw unfolding on Terminus.

With Salvor and Gal being locked inside of these tombs that have ability blocking dishes, we saw that Salvor utilised the Prime Radiant to enter the vault following what Harry Selden said to her two episodes ago.

This was about being able to look inside of it and essentially use it as a way of communicating with the other version of Selden that was out there.

It was here where this version of Harry Selden found out that there was another copy of himself and that he'd been left in the dark about certain things.

Salvor informed him of the mentalics, telepathy, and also about the name Hobo Mallow, which Gal had inside of her vision.

This was a name that Selden didn't have a clue about, but we saw that once Salvor left, the engraving that appeared on the vault in episode two of the show where he requested Hobo Mallow to be brought to Terminus was then written out,

Showing us that the timelines were different, something which was most definitely an interesting revelation.

Terminus declared war on Trantor.

This was by far the best part of the entire episode, and it happened in the first twenty minutes so it felt like a treat.

We saw that Constance and Polly were going to be facing execution by what looked like a brutal method, and it was being broadcast around the entire galaxy.

However, before it could be done, the jump that Hobo Mallow did during the previous episode when he was escaping from Belrios, it led him to land just above where the public display was going to be taking place,

Causing mass casualties in terms of civilians of the Empire, and it also led to Day being injured.

I loved this for a number of different reasons.

Watching Day have fear on his face for one of the first times this season, other than when the blind angels attacked him, was something that we rarely ever get to see, and as we know, he doesn't like the idea of there being any other versions of himself being created in this new dynasty that he's forming with Sarith,

And I feel like we genuinely saw him look death in the face, and he didn't like the look of it, especially when Becky was running towards him.

Having Constance narrowly avoid death in that horrific fashion whilst she was uttering, guide me through the darkness, was a moment that I didn't expect in the slightest, and it caught me off guard, and it made the moment feel even more epic.

I genuinely thought that they were going to kill her off, so it was a massive shock when Mallow appeared.

With the devastation that Mallow caused in the name of the Foundation to save Constance, it will most likely be received as an act of war, and retaliation was something that I thought Day was going to do.

However, we're seeing a more diplomatic approach from him, as he stated that he didn't fear change.

But if things don't go his way, he'll most likely turn to aggression as we saw that he was claiming that the planet was his.

I also think, as we later found out about during the ending, with Dermazel being by his side and pushing for him to take aggressive action, she could end up pulling the strings, with it seeming like she's been erasing the memories of the brothers and ensuring that as the original Empress,

The ideology of Cleon I continued.

I feel when on Terminus, things aren't going to be that peaceful.

DERMAZEL'S ORIGIN In the closing moments of the episode, we saw that the line on the wall that wasn't moving earlier on in the episode, which Dusk spotted, was something that we revisited right at the end.

The substance that he had was something which would allow the altar to be reactivated, and in turn, it led to the wall opening and himself and Enjoiner Rue walking through it discovering a stairwell that Dusk had never seen before.

This stairwell led all the way through to a chamber where Cleon I came out, and revealed that it was once a prison.

Earlier on in the episode, we had a brief history on Emperor Barathus, and the time in which he was ruler.

Robots and humans were alongside each other and the humans were cruel to them.

However, as time went on, the robots were exhibiting human characteristics, and they advanced to a point that the humans could never have imagined.

They wanted to be acknowledged as having full personhood, but once they were denied it by the humans, they turned to murder, and ended up causing mass devastation which caused a war, and for the Emperor to be murdered by them.

However, the humans won and Dermazel was the only surviving robot.

We were led to wonder who it was that programmed Dermazel at the end of the episode, and during the final moments as it cut between the locations of all of the brothers being separated, there was a strong focus on Dermazel,

As Brother Day was asking what it was that she saw when everybody else went to sleep.

The original design of the brothers is that they were a direct extension of Cleon I, and that she was there to serve them.

But in reality, it's now very much shaping out to be that they are the puppets, and that Dermazel is actually Cleon I's true heir, and his forever Empress.

Somebody who would always be loyal to the Empire, and the ruling in which Cleon established all of those years ago.

So it's becoming more and more understandable as to why there's disruption with Sareth coming into the picture, and Day wanting to drift away from the Cleonic genetic dynasty that's been in place for a very long time.

It feels like Dermazel could also be behind the wiping of the memories, and also the attack that was carried out on Day by the Blind Angels.

The phrase which Dawn was saying, she will always be here as she always has, now holds so much relevance when compared to the start of the episode following that closing section.

With that line occurring when Dermazel was mentioned by Dawn, and now with Cloud Dominion having technology to be able to bring lost memories back into the mind, I feel we'll see Dawn explore this option as paranoia is probably going to be something that will become ever present around the brothers.

Overall Review I thought this was a really good episode of the show.

I was very impressed with it.

So much happened, but it didn't feel like it dragged on for too long, or feel as though there wasn't enough time for the information to sink in.

If the second crisis, the all out war that will be taking place is anything like what we saw in this episode with Mallow landing on Trantor, I think we're in for some amazing visuals and storytelling,

And just all out action scenes.

Each individual arc was touched on and progressed in a natural way where consequences were soon to be faced, so it all felt valuable and important.

I feel like this season of the show has just gotten better and better the more that it's gone on, and as we build ever closer to the season finale, I wait in anticipation to see what's going to happen.
