  • Welcome along to the GBNR Cruise.
  • This episode is brought to you in partnership with our good friends at Continental Tyres.
  • And I'm joined by TikTok sensation Big John, otherwise known as the leader of the Bosch soldiers of the Romford Army.
  • How are you, mate?
  • I'm all good, James.
  • Thank you very much.
  • I've been in worse places on a Monday morning, so thank you for having me.
  • I am a slight concern that you've got down on this sun lounge.
  • I mean, I'm uncomfortable.
  • I don't know how we're going to get you off this thing.
  • Well, have you got a mini crane anywhere or a large crane?
  • Because I think it may be needed.
  • But I'm glad that you're here.
  • Big strong man, you'll be able to pull me up.
  • The best thing is your lovely wife's in the corner already filming.
  • And I think this content is going to be interesting, but I think you trying to get off it is going to be more interesting.
  • I think me getting off this will get the most views.
  • Trust me.
  • We were talking off camera about kind of how surreal this is.
  • You know, are you surprised as to what a TikTok legend you've become?
  • You're very surprised.
  • And when you say like TikTok sensation, TikTok legend, I still feel uneasy hearing them words because I'm just a normal family man who's been working on all his life.
  • And it is very strange.
  • Wherever I go in the world, you get noticed.
  • And that's through TikTok, basically, first and foremost.
  • And I didn't even know I was on TikTok to start with.
  • So that's the strange part.
  • So how did the journey start?
  • Because obviously your sort of Bosh catchphrase has become synonymous now.
  • Where did this all begin?
  • Well, I just used to do videos mainly with food.
  • And then one time I just said Bosh at the end of a video.
  • Didn't think nothing of it.
  • Didn't say Bosh again for three or four videos and had thousands of comments.
  • Why not saying Bosh?
  • Why not saying Bosh?
  • I think people just like the way I say it because a lot of different people say Bosh.
  • It's a phenomenon used around the world.
  • And it's just the way I say it.
  • But it started for me originally.
  • My middle son, Henry, he's a bit of a devious, devious genius, I call him.
  • He used to film me eating all sorts of dinners, used to put it on TikTok without me knowing.
  • And it started from there.
  • So thank you, Henry.
  • Because talking about your food, you've got a massive love for Chinese food.
  • If I was to give you your last meal and I said that we were trapped on a desert island together, you're not allowed to eat meat, would Chinese be the go to?
  • Chinese would definitely be the go to, followed by pie and mash as well.
  • I do love a pie and mash, but Chinese is the definite go to.
  • Is there a particular Chinese that you love in London?
  • Is the one that you think's really ticked every box?
  • Listen, I've been fortunate enough.
  • I've been eating in quite a lot of top fancy Chinese restaurants lately.
  • But the best one by far, trust me, is the Blue Orchid in Romford.
  • I don't get any monetary gain for saying this.
  • Me and my wife have been going there since before we had children, same family own it, different generations coming through.
  • It is by far the best Chinese.
  • And they've had people from all over Europe going in there.
  • Do they get a bit nervous when they see you coming through the door?
  • Do they start panicking and you see the chefs sweating and you're going, Christ, we're going to have a tough one today?
  • I think they've sweated quite a few times when I put my order in, but people have got to realise when I place an order, we've got a family of six and there's four big men in our family.
  • So, you know, it's not all for me.
  • Because I know your son, Johnny, obviously the Romford boy, he's absolutely smashing it.
  • You know, we've talked, you guys actually came to DJ set a mining card if that's where we first met you and I had a photo with you, we had a chat.
  • He's doing so well at the moment.
  • Yeah, he's on his way now as we speak, we're going to cross over.
  • He's coming onto the boat with Henry.
  • He just won a Southern Area heavyweight title on the Anthony Joshua card.
  • He's working hard.
  • He dedicates his life to the sport as we were speaking, like what we said there.
  • So he'll go as far as he can go, but he's got his head screwed on his shoulders.
  • He's a clever young man, history degree as well.
  • So boxing was not his be-all and end-all.
  • He chooses to do it.
  • And I think that's what makes him quite dangerous at it.
  • Where would you like to see him go?
  • Obviously, you're going to say heavyweight title, but kind of what do you see the next few years for him like?
  • Listen, I'm a realist.
  • I'm his dad, but I'm also a realist.
  • I know how hard boxing is.
  • There's so many good fighters out there.
  • You have to do the right path.
  • For me, if he become British champion, that'd be a dream come true.
  • And Eddie Hearn's already said it.
  • He could sell out the O2 for a British title fight.
  • So if you become British champion, then who knows after that.
  • But for me as a dad to win that British title would be a dream come true.
  • Because you guys have a bit of a tradition, win or lose.
  • I mean, obviously you haven't lost at the moment.
  • You're always going to have a little meal with the sort of opposition fighter.
  • Listen, Johnny, he's lost amateur fights before.
  • You know of amateur fights, they come and go.
  • Whatever happens, you have a meal or something to eat with your opponent.
  • It's sport at the end of the day.
  • You're trying your best.
  • They're trying their best.
  • And at the end of the day, you're all friends.
  • What is your go-to?
  • What is your go-to kind of meal?
  • Because I'm partial to Chinese.
  • I always get a quarter duck, prawns, sesame toast.
  • That's my sort of minimum requirement.
  • Sizzling beef.
  • But I mean, what would you put together as your ultimate order?
  • And especially if he wins heavyweight title of the world or British champion, what are you going to go for after that?
  • Well, we would definitely go to the Blue Orchid and have a B2. The B2 set menu, you'll get mixed hors d'oeuvres.
  • Listen, it's the best.
  • You get mixed hors d'oeuvres.
  • And in that, you've got a spicy pork, which is unbelievable.
  • Spare ribs?
  • Spare ribs, sesame prawns, seaweed, spring rolls.
  • Then you move on to the aromatic duck.
  • You've got to have the duck, as you said.
  • And then I think on the mains, it's like sweet and sour chicken, Hong Kong style.
  • Charming fried rice, mixed vegetables, shredded chili beef.
  • And then afterwards, you get banana or apple fritters.
  • They're great, aren't they?
  • By the time you're eating your fritters, you're ready to explode.
  • Have you been on this cruise ship before?
  • You're a big fan of cruises?
  • I've never, ever been on a cruise.
  • And I used to have a joke with my mum and dad.
  • My dad's passed away.
  • God rest his soul.
  • I said, I'll never, ever do a cruise ship.
  • And to my sister as well.
  • But we have had a fantastic time.
  • Even though it's been moored up, I'm gutted we're going.
  • I'm absolutely gutted we're going.
  • We have had a great time.
  • And thank you for having us on.
  • How do you think England are doing in the World Cup?
  • You've been watching much of it?
  • Because I know you are a bit of a rugby fan yourself, aren't you?
  • Listen, I do a bit of England rugby.
  • Grateful for that.
  • I was talking to Ellis Genge, Jamie George before the game, on the way to the game.
  • And I said to him, look, chaps, we're outnumbered here as fans, three to one by the Argentinians.
  • I said, you can't let us down.
  • And they said, John, don't worry, we won't let you down.
  • And boy, they didn't.
  • That was terrific.
  • If you would just finish with just one little final message for the lads or any of the fans of GBR that just, you know, we can get a little bit of motivation going.
  • I'll just say, lads, keep doing what you're doing.
  • All us English fans want to be is felt proud and win, lose or draw, leave everything on the pitch.
  • And remember, the England rugby team are all elite Bosh soldiers and they can't lose.
  • Bosh!
  • Bosh.
  • If people want to find you on TikTok, where do they find you?
  • TikTok is either BoshTok or Big John.
  • And my Instagram is itsbigjohn1.
  • Well, John, listen, thank you so much for coming on the GBR show, mate.
  • We absolutely love you.
  • I think what you're doing is amazing.
  • Now let's see if we can get you off this sunlounger, yeah?
  • Well, this will be the test because I'm not a sunlounger type of guy, as you can see.
  • I was hoping there was chairs here when we come in.
  • I'll be honest with you, looking at that sunlounger, I think it's going to be coming with you.
  • I'm just thinking I might end up back in the sea if I'm going to push myself back.
  • So I'm going to need a bit of help.
  • That's no lie.
  • Thanks Big John.
  • Well, from TikTok royalty to actual royalty.
  • How are you, Mike Tindall?
  • Very, very, very well.
  • We know.
  • You've obviously been chilling.
  • I've been working hard.
  • We've got a new game for this year.
  • So what?
  • I've been working very hard.
  • We've got a new game for this World Cup and one you guys can join in on.
  • Mystic Mike's predictions in partnership with our friends from City Index, global provider of spread betting and CFD trading.
  • This weekend, we've got Ireland versus Tonga, Australia versus Fiji and England versus Japan.
  • Who's getting your backing and why, Michael?
  • Well,
  • I'm glad you asked.
  • I actually did pretty well on the first one.
  • Did you?
  • Apart from yesterday because I was back in Scotland.
  • That was a big mistake.
  • And I picked Fiji as well, which if they'd have scored all their opportunities.
  • So Ireland versus Tonga, look, we know Tonga have got now through the repatriation.
  • What's the right word of saying?
  • Repatriation?
  • Repatriation, yeah.
  • Is that the right word?
  • We're just going to go with it.
  • We can make words up.
  • This is good, bad, or ugly.
  • Do what you want.
  • So anyway, people who used to play for Royal Bikes now play for Tonga.
  • Yeah, well done.
  • Thanks for translating that, yeah.
  • I still think Ireland looked very good.
  • I expect them to win.
  • Points are crucial for that pool.
  • It could come down to points difference, bonus points, all sorts.
  • So I think Ireland win and I think they'll win by 25. Well, lovely.
  • Okay.
  • Australia versus Fiji.
  • Australia versus Fiji is a bit of an unknown still.
  • I think it's a sketchy performance by Australia, really, 35-15 against the Georgians.
  • I think you watch the Fiji, even though they lost to Wales last night, they were held up three times over the line.
  • They dropped that last pass.
  • They made an abundance of meters in terms of attacking.
  • Wales had to make 248 tackles.
  • So I think they're going to cause a threat.
  • I don't know which way it's going to go.
  • I'm going to say Australia are going to have too much, but that'll be a close game.
  • Could go either way.
  • Okay.
  • Lastly, England versus Japan.
  • Well, hopefully England will get to play one game in this World Cup with 15 men, but actually seems that they're actually better when they lose people.
  • Because we couldn't score it in the game at Twickenham until we went down to 13 men.
  • So maybe we should play- Well, they're very practical.
  • They're very practical.
  • Yeah.
  • Look, I was really impressed with how England managed to control that game, having been dealt that blow at the start.
  • Japan aren't the team that they have been in the past.
  • So I would expect England to cruise that one.
  • Okay.
  • 30 points, 25-30 points, maybe more.
  • Well, you heard it there, first listeners.
  • If you want to please join in, then absolutely do.
  • We love your interaction.
  • We love your comments, as long as they're positive.
  • And I want to give a quick shout out to the performer of the week on the Superbrew app in the GBNR group.
  • Round one, well done Parsons.
  • 13.25 points ahead of Nina from 13. And Bobby D, there are top three.
  • Well done.
  • It says that I am in 1634th place.
  • Can't be right, can it?
  • Maybe it is.
  • Maybe I'm just awful at predicting stuff.
  • I might have done my picks after we'd had a few roses, because I hit a draw on a couple of games, which is accidental.
  • But you do have big sausage fingers that can stab away at that app not very well.
  • Remember, if you haven't signed up yet, you still can.
  • You'll also then be in with a chance of getting a shout out on the pod.
  • Head over to superbrew.com forward slash GBR to get involved.
  • Thanks to Continental Tires for their continued support.
  • We will see you all again very soon.
  • Hold on, hold on.
