  • Introduction to Video Content
  • Leeds United made the long journey to the south coast to face Southampton in a Saturday lunchtime clash. After a promising performance against Watford in their previous game, Leeds were hoping to continue their momentum. However, it was Southampton who got off to a perfect start. Breaking down the right-hand side, they caught Leeds off guard and Stuart Armstrong chipped the ball into the net to give Southampton an early lead. Leeds were expecting an offside flag, but it never came. Will Smallbone then doubled Southampton's lead, calmly rolling the ball into the back of the net from the penalty spot. Armstrong added to Leeds' misery with a well-taken shot to make it 3-0 to Southampton. Pascal Stroup gave Leeds a glimmer of hope by scoring a goal, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. The game ended with Southampton securing a 3-1 victory. Leeds were left to reflect on a disappointing performance, as Southampton dominated the first half-hour of the game with their attacking prowess.
