  • Introduction to Video Content
  • The stock market has cleared three major hurdles, according to Jim Cramer. These hurdles were the Federal Reserve meeting, Apple's quarterly report, and the employment report. Despite not being perfect, these obstacles were overcome, leading to a relief rally in the market. The Dow gained 547 points, the S&P rose by 1.85 percent, and the NASDAQ saw a 2.25 percent increase. Cramer reflects on his early years in the business when he would dread weeks like this and try to trade out of them. However, he has now learned to embrace the unknown, as long as it is on the schedule. The Federal Reserve meeting was expected to provide some reliability, knowing that its chairman, Jay Powell, is a professional who knows how to handle himself. Cramer wishes Powell had acknowledged the damage caused by the collapse of the First Republic, but he still believes that the rate hike was justified based on today's strong employment numbers. He even suggests the possibility of another rate hike in the next Fed meeting. As for Apple, Cramer advises owning the stock instead of trading it. He disregards negative opinions about the company from component suppliers or brokers, as he believes it is a misdirection play to sell. Cramer mentions a similar situation with AMD, a charitable trust that was named after a reporter.
  • Subtitles section
  • It was always about the hurdles.
  • The hurdles this week that we had to clear before the market could go higher again, namely the Fed meeting, the Apple quarter, and today's employment report.
  • Once the hurdles were behind us, even if they weren't perfect, we knew that we could have a relief rally.
  • Sure enough, today we got more of a sigh of relief.
  • We got a bullish jaunt that made this week's torture more bearable, Dow only gaining 547 points, S&P jumping 1.85 percent, and the NASDAQ pole vaulting 2.25 percent.
  • For the first decade of my 40-odd years in this business, I would dread weeks like this.
  • I would do my best to trade out of them, to get flat, so to speak.
  • But over time, I've come to embrace the unknowable, as long as it's on the schedule.
  • We knew the Fed would meet, right, and there would be a semblance of reliability to it.
  • Why?
  • Because like Jay Powell, he's a pro.
  • He knows how to handle himself.
  • Sure, I wish he'd acknowledge the destruction wrought by the collapse of the First Republic last weekend, but I'm still glad he tightened by a quarter point, because today's hot employment number fully justifies that rate hike,
  • And maybe even another quarter point in the next Fed meeting.
  • As far as Apple, why don't I tell you?
  • Own it, don't trade it, and that philosophy worked again.
  • I refuse to be shaken out of the world's best company by one errant component supplier or a couple of joker brokers who say, hey, things have gotten weaker.
  • It was a classic misdirection play.
  • Sell, sell, sell.
  • And I hope you didn't fall for it.
  • I did my best to keep you in.
  • We saw something similar, by the way, from AMD, another charitable trust named after a reporter a few days ago.
  • But if you sold into weakness, you're kicking yourself now that we know they've got something big cooking with Microsoft and the Artificial Intelligence Fund.
  • Look, I don't tell you to not sell the stocks, because I want you to endure a huge amount of pain.
  • The house of pain.
  • I want you to endure.
  • Our house of pleasure.
